Employment, Internship & Volunteer Opportunities
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The essence of our work is to build an organization that enables us to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world. To accomplish this goal we need talented people working together with a solidarity of purpose, recognizing that the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts.
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum employs 160 staff members that are supported by approximately 550 volunteers.

The largest group of volunteers are the docents in the Education Department, with 250 individuals in a specialized program called the Docent Program. Another 300 volunteers work in other museum departments and provide animal care, clerical assistance, horticulture help, exhibit repair, research, photography, field work, and other assistance.
In addition to volunteers, the Desert Museum also has internships in various departments from time to time for college age students who would like to have hands-on work experience in their field of study. Please check the Internships section below to see what internships are currently open.
